Raising funds for animation

One of our biggest dreams for The Elements of Mutual Aid has always been to bring the ideas in the series to life through animation. So we’re so excited to announce that the incredibly talented animator Maria Medem has agreed to join our project. We are beginning to raise funds to cover the costs!

We’re raising up to $10,000, which will cover 4.5 minutes of animation. Animated sequences will be scattered throughout the series and include a title sequence. Check out our pitch deck to learn more.

Animation will make this series more engaging and accessible. It will help us visualize abstract concepts, deepening viewers’ understanding and connection to big ideas.

We want to source this money from groups and individuals with excess wealth. We’ve already raised $23,000 for this project, mostly from our friends through small donations, and we don’t want to tap our communities twice – especially considering the many other frontline efforts that need their support.

Instead, we hope to find funders who can comfortably donate $500 or more and have interest in supporting movement media to help catalyze liberation work. If each donor gave $1,000, we’d only need 10 donors to bring beautiful animation to this project!

If you’d like to make a donation, please reach out to us at [email protected] or feel free to send it to our PayPal. Receipts for a tax-deductible donation are available on request (please message us about this before making a donation).

If you don’t have access to wealth but still want to help us reach our goal, we’re asking our friends to get us in contact with people/groups they know who might be able to support this effort. You can share our pitch deck with them.

In other news, our editing is coming along right on schedule. We’ve finished the rough cut edit of the first two chapters and are planning to have all four done with rough assembly by July. We’re also very excited to be working with a music producer who will be scoring the series!

Thanks as always for reading. Please reach out if you’re interested in providing funding or have any ideas of funding sources for the animation work: [email protected]. We’re always grateful for everyone’s continued excitement and support for this project.
